Ideas for using QR Codes

There are many many ways you can use QR Code and we are adding to the list all the time. There seems to be no end of uses for the codes and with some people speculating on their growing popularity who knows how common they might become.

Here are some uses for QR Codes

  1. Social Media QR Codes - link to your twitter or facebook page
  2. Video link - link to a video on YouTube, Vimeo, Blip or any video
  3. T-Shirts - put it on a T-Shirt to link anywhere. Guerilla Marketing 101. Include the words Scan me, I'm worth it (or something)
  4. Groceries - order your grocery items by scanning barcodes to add them to your shopping list
  5. Product Packaging - have a QR Code on packaging. You could link it to accessories for the product, to the customer service centre area (FAQ) online or to the manual for the product.
  6. Print Publications - Magazines / Newspapers / Catalogs. Include QR Codes in the print versions of the forementioned which links them online.
  7. Outdoor Advertising - make a really big QR Code and stick it on a billboard. Awesome.
  8. Television advertising / Shopping Channels - include the QR Code on TV to link people to a website related to the product or program showing.
  9. Name Tags - A personal favourite. Put them on a name tag which people can scan to learn more about you.
  10. Personal Items - put a QR code on items and products you own. If they go missing people could scan to get your details to contact you.
  11. Real Estate Signs - Put a QR Code on realty signs so people can scan the sign and get more information about the property
  12. QR Code Business Cards - provide a QR Code (perfect for a Realtor or anyone in Sales) that leads people to more information about you. Maybe a website or .tel site or similar.
  13. Public Transportation - show QR Codes in taxis, trains and buses. People have little else to do so they might as well be exposed to your advertising.
  14. Art Galleries / Museums - provide extended information on art work or displays in Art Galleries or Museums by including small QR codes on the exhibit descriptions so people can scan and go.
  15. Prescriptions and repeat scripts - add codes to medical scripts and allow scanning to order a repeat.
  16. Promotional Coupons and Voucher Codes - have people scan to get access to a special coupon or discount code.
  17. You are here! - Add the codes to random places in Campus and Universities, even Cities or Parks. When people scan the code it links to a Google map or similar that shows them where they are exactly. Never get lost again.
  18. On Drink Bottles - include QR Codes on drink bottles, particularly Wine bottles and Beer so people can scan the item to learn more about it. Perhaps also include a share this on facebook / twitter / google+ feature to share what your drinking right now. Your friends would love to hear from you.
  19. At Events and Conferences - include a QR code on the program and outside meeting rooms to give you the schedule, or expanded schedule information for that session or seminar.
  20. QR to email - link to an email, then you can email, right from your phone. No need to type in email addresses etc.
  21. Tweet this thing - What ever it is you can have a QR Code which takes people to their twitter accounts so they can tweet about it.
  22. Speed Dating - Add a bit of fun to a speed dating night by getting T-Shirts made with QR codes, or adding QR Codes to the participants tags. Makes for a good laugh and maybe even a good way to remember who took your fancy! ;)
  23. Put them on tickets to events to include information about the artist or the event itself. Details of start times, general event information and schedules.
